Me, Dad and the box of Apple Jacks
It didn’t make it on the show, but this is the original story that I e-mailed to the producers of This American Life after a call for submissions to the Father’s Day episode—the story Ira and I discussed over a 20 minute phone call (along with questions about why dads are so non-emotional, and whether or not Apple Jacks do or do not indeed taste like apple). While I’m bummed it wasn’t apart of the Father’s Day episode, I still like this story a lot, and hope you’ll like it too.

Sometimes I get sad about past loves that didn’t work out, but then I remember that none of them were Justin Vernon anyway so it wasn’t that big of a loss when you really think about it.
